To make an in-year application, please complete the relevant in-year common application form found on the local authority In-year admissions page

Appeals

If your child is not offered a place at a school of your preference, you may appeal against that decision. The appeal panel is independent of the council and the school.

Infant class size legislation applies to appeals for children starting reception. This means that a class must not contain more than 30 pupils with a single school teacher. Parents should note that there are only very limited circumstances where reception appeals are successful.

If you wish to appeal you must complete and submit the school’s Admission Appeals form which will be sent to you with the letter informing you that you have not been offered a place. You can also download the form from our website, or ask the school office for a copy.

The Admission Appeal form should be sent to the Clerk to the Appeals panel at the school address. Please include any evidence or supporting material with your appeal and you must give the reasons for your appeal at the time the appeal is submitted.

For your appeal to be heard in June 2024 you will need to submit your appeal form by 15 May 2024. Appeals received after this date will result in a delay to your appeal being heard. Please read the appeal timetable 2024 for more information.
